When a lawyer described one of our products as having a ‘peculiar shape’, we knew we were up to something new and different. The machine’s appearance was not within norms.
And that was good news! That is because we did not set out to reinvent the stationary bike, the tread mill, the elliptical runner, the weight stations, or other common gym equipment. We were working with the basic idea like ‘how to make the upper body move… a lot’.
As a company, we cannot boast the impressive “Established in 1950” or “Since 1897” and the likes. It is more like “Established last year”, or “Since last December”. Nor can we claim, “Our staff have 150 years of industry experience”. At the time of this article, that would be about 2!
We were starting from a clean slate and out of the box thinking. Our work was not influenced by common wisdom and physiology theories. We respect them but we would not hesitate to challenge them.
We had a goal in mind and a couple of ideas we needed to try and use the evidence from our trials to evaluate them.
To induce a lot of upper body movement and to reach every muscle, we needed to introduce some radical movements using radical equipment designs, and hence, the ‘peculiar shape’.
The first radical idea was to bring cycling… over the head. The other was an idea dating decades back and was based on the time-honored tradition of using grinding stones.
The ideas are very much the identity of our products today and have become powerful tools for core muscle rebuilding, posture correction, fighting back upper body fat accumulation, and appealing physique.
